Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) on Prescribing at GMC Health Center, Yogyakarta: A Case Study

Asyary, Al

In major of its applying, CPOE has been shown to improve patient safety by reducing medication errors and subsequent adverse drug events (ADEs). Medication error such as elixir in writing, determination of dose and correct drug type use at patient with the certain health condition in health service can be depressed. But, and so do own the negative impact. One of them is the existence of time addition in entry of patient information by physician which is potential event for being an error(s) on prescribing activity. The goal was to describe the CPOE on prescribing, also as known as electronic prescribing, in academic health facility of GMC Health Center. This case study design, depth interview and observation was conducted in academic healthcare facility GMC Health Center. The subject was physician and farmacist as end-user of CPOE system on presribing. From interview guide and check list observation tools was obtained that CPOE in GMC Health Center have influenced by some principles from existing themes. Ease of use and usefullness perceptions had been change end-user’s mind about implementation of this systems.

TEEN RELIGIUSITY: CASE STUDY IN TEENS IN SURABAYA,
MATARAM AND KENDARI

Hamid Al Jufri, Jufri

This research is motivated by concerns about the problems of teenagers who are
heavily involved in free sex, drugs, alcohol, brawl and pornography. This condition is
certainly not stand alone many factors that mempengeruhinya, family, community
and school. This study attempts to describe the level of adolescent religiosity in
Surabaya, Mataram and Kendari, what factors predominate and how strategies
improve and increase adolescent religiosity.
From the results of the research conducted from May to October 2013, it was found
that the level of adolescent religiosity in the three study cities was at a very high
level. There is no significant difference between adolescent religiosity in Surabaya,
Mataram and Kendari. In the aspect of youth religious knowledge in Surabaya is
relatively better than adolescents in Mataram and Kendari, the religious attitudes
aspect of adolescents in Mataram is relatively better than adolescents in Surabaya
and Kendari, and the moral aspect of religious (akhlakul karimah) adolescents in
Mataram is relatively better than adolescents in Kendari and Surabaya.
Religious conditions in the families in these three study cities are at good level
(conducive), there is no significant difference between one city and another.
Indicators of religious adherence of parents and habituation cultivate religious
values in the family in Mataram lebik both daripda in Surabaya and Kendari. The
socio-religious level of society is at a fairly good level (conducive), there are
significant differences in the three cities. In the city of Mataram it is better the social
level of the religious community than in Surabaya and Kendari. The condition of
religious education in schools is at a fairly good level, and there is no significant
difference between the codes in the three study cities. In the aspect of availability of
religious facilities and intensity of religious execution activities in Mataram city is
relatively better than in Surabaya and Kendari.
The dominant factors influencing the religiosity of adolescents in Surabaya, Mataram
and Kendari are religious education factors in school and religion in the family.
Socio-socio-cultural factors become the determinants of youth religiosity in Mataram
and supporting factors for adolescents in Surabaya and Kendari. It means to produce
religious teenagers need attention from family, school and community. However,
families and schools have not been able to portray themselves as character bulding
places.
The fact that families and schools have not played a significant role in the formation
of adolescent religiosity is evidence of failure or dysfunctional families and schools
as character bulding actors. To that end, the need to improve the ability of families
and schools in various aspects and areas as proposed in the quality improvement
strategy of family, school and community.

THE PRACTICE OF E-LEARNING BASED LEARNING MANAGEMENT

Hamid Al Jufri, Jufri

This study aims to create a learning management model based on e-learning in the context of improving the quality of e-based learning which is now less manageable. E-learning based learning management is profoundly potential to make the learning process more effective for both students and teachers significantly in terms of place, time and cost. This research was conducted by using quantitative approach. Statistical testing of the t-test at a = 0.05 (95% significance level) is employed to compare learning outcomes between the experimental groups. The results showed that such e-learning based learning model helps students in learning and acquires learning outcomes significantly higher, that is (P> 0.95) compared with students studying with conventional learning. E-learning model improves the effectiveness of lecture’s performance of faculty and students’ achievement due to the utilization of more efficient space, time, cost, and energy. Thereby, e-learning based learning model is effective to improve the quality of teaching and learning as a whole.

Student’s learning: Instrumentally, Integratively or Personally Motivated?

Student’s learning: Instrumentally, Integratively or Personally Motivated?

Fitriani, Somariah

The study focuses on learners’ motivation to learn English as
L2/foreign language. For data collection, questionnaire was distributed
to 82 respondents of STIBA IEC Jakarta via whatsApp and face book
messenger. In addition, interviews were also conducted to find out the
detail information about the role of teacher and
inspirational/motivational teacher. For data analysis, the step of
sorting, classifying, coding, and presenting the data and drawing
conclusion was adopted. This is a research based article, which has
aimed to elaborate the learners’ English learning motivation whether it
is instrumentally, integratively or personally motivated and the most
dominance type of motivation as well as the important role of teacher in
motivating students. It is somewhat surprising that there are six
categories found in the research, namely personal motivation (PS),
integrative motivation (IT), instrumental motivation (IS), the
combination of PS & IT, PS & IS, and IT & IS. The findings have
revealed that 1) instrumental motivation is the most dominant type as
the first rank, which includes to get a better living, better jobs and
position; PS & IS as second rank, IT & IS as the third rank, PS & IT as
the fourth rank, personal motivation as the fifth rank and integrative
motivation as the last rank; 2) teacher who is resourceful, skillful,
competent and has good personality plays a imperative role in
motivating and inspiring students. To sum up, regardless of personal,
integrative or instrumental motivation, teacher as a role model also
determines learner’s success in learning L2.

Socio-Economics of Childhood Pulmonary Tuberculosis with Adult Tuberculosis Household Contacts in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Province

Asyary, Al

Background: Since the tuberculosis (TB) disease in children constitutes a global health problem that has long been
neglected, this study sought to predict socioeconomic factors as public-health determinants that could protect children who were exposed to TB in their household. Method: A case-control study of 132 children (under 14 years old) who shared their household with adults suffering from pulmonary TB was conducted in the Province of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. This study consisted of an interview and anthropometry measurement for the controls screening test, while the cases were monitored by pediatricians with a scoring system childhood TB diagnosis from the secondary hospital database. A multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the results. Results: A healthy housing condition, predicted by a naturally illuminated luminary bedroom prevented the incidence of the childhood TB disease (p = 0.043) even if exposed to adult TB in their environment (p = 0.775). Conclusions: Healthy housing factors with good sunlight protected children especially at the early stage, when there were active pulmonary TB adult household contacts. Ventilation and morning sunlight facilitated air circulation, vitality and the body’s immune system towards TB protection.

Determinants of cigarette smoking among school adolescents on the island of Java, Indonesia

Bigwanto, Mouhamad

Background: The Integrated Model of Change has successfully
explained the behavior change process. Cigarette
smoking is a social phenomenon, which needs to be
understood for devising effective preventive strategies.
Objectives: The study aims to apply the Integrated Model
of Change to determine predictive factors of cigarette
smoking behavior among school adolescents in Indonesia.
Methods: A school-based cross-sectional study was
designed to collect data in Banten, Indonesia. A total of
698 students from eight high schools were recruited by
multi-stage cluster sampling. The association between
cigarette smoking and the independent variables was
examined by multiple logistic regressions.
Results: The majority of respondents (86.4%) were
between the ages of 15 and 17  years (Mean = 16.4 years;
SD = 1.01). Approximately half (48.8%) of the students ever
tried a cigarette while 29.6% were current smokers. Curiosity
was reported as the main reason for experimenting
with cigarettes (32%). The significant factors regarding
current cigarette smoking were attitude [adjusted odds
ratio (AOR) = 2.68], social norms (AOR = 12.80), self-efficacy
(AOR = 15.85), and accessibility (AOR = 4.39).
Conclusion: The study revealed social influence and selfefficacy
that were strongly associated with cigarette smoking
can help authorities in guiding possible intervention
programs for school adolescents.
