The development of mathematics higher order thinking skills instrument for grade VIII junior high school
Wahidin, Wahidin
21st-century learning activities require higher order thinking skills including critical and creative thinking. High-level mathematical thinking skills are tools to train and improve higher order thinking skills in mathematics. This study aimed to produce products in the form of a high
level mathematical thinking skills instrument of grade VIII based on Bloom’s Taxonomy containing C4 (Analyze), C5 (Evaluate), and C6 (Creating) questions. Indicators of higher order thinking include analyzing, organizing, differentiating, and linking. Evaluating is judging, checking and criticizing. While creating is generalizing, designing, and producing. This research was conducted at
three junior high schools in Jakarta that consisted of 41, 36 and 36 students respectively. The sample of this research was grade VIII students. The study was conducted during the even semester in 2017. Data collection method used higher order thinking skill test of the eight grade students then
analyzed data with the calculation of validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination power. The result showed that the instrument was valid, reliable, the difficulty level was moderate, and the discrimination power was moderate so the problems in this instrument could be used by teachers to measure students’ high order thinking skills.

Advection-diffusion model for the simulation of air pollution distribution from a point source emission
Wahidin, Wahidin
Advection-diffusion model is one of the mathematical models, which can be used to understand the distribution of air pollutant in the atmosphere. It uses the 2D advection-diffusion model with time-dependent to simulate air pollution distribution in order to find out whether the
pollutants are more concentrated at ground level or near the source of emission under particular atmospheric conditions such as stable, unstable, and neutral conditions. Wind profile, eddy diffusivity, and temperature are considered in the model as parameters. The model is solved by using explicit finite difference method, which is then visualized by a computer program developed using Lazarus programming software. The results show that the atmospheric conditions alone influencing the level of concentration of pollutants is not conclusive as the parameters in the model have their own effect on each atmospheric condition.

The effect of ice-breaking using stand-up comedy on students’ mathematical belief system
Wahidin, Wahidin
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ice breaking by doing standup comedy on the result of mathematical belief. This research was conducted at SMPN 37 Jakarta
on 2nd grade in the 2nd-semester academic year 2016-2017. The research design used was the
treatment by level 2×2 with learning method as a dependent variable which is the ability to
understand the mathematics concept as a moderator variable and mathematical belief as an independent variable. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling. The result showed that the learning through icebreaking by doing stand-up comedy is able to increase the mathematics’ belief of students. In addition, the learning method has the effect of mathematics’belief which depends on the ability to nderstand the mathematics concept of the student. Scholars who study by ice breaking with stand-up comedy teaching have the mathematics’ belief higher than scholars who study by the conventional method.
